Real Weddings: Chilley and Anna

If there’s one wedding I wished was mine – in terms of the motif, theme and reception set-up, I’d say it would have to be this. My husband and I were very privileged to have been part of this celebration, since Anna and I have been good friends since High School. This couple definitely knew how to party- and certainly incorporated their bubbly personalities in every bit of detail of their wedding last May.

Their wedding was too beautiful I couldn’t stand it (in a good way).  I honestly was envious of the set-up especially in the reception *wink wink*

Kudos to the couple for the great suppliers selection!  So without further ado, here’s the beautiful love story and much more beautiful wedding of Chilley and Anna 🙂

1. Tell me a briefer about your love story- how you met and why you said yes to him.

Chilley and Anna’s birthday in Singapore

Chilley and I used to work at a software company at The Fort. We were both part of a big team of Software QA Engineers. We weren’t working on the same project that’s why we really didn’t get the chance to actually know each other. But, Chilley had a “crush at first sight” on me. He said a few of his friends knew about it. One lucky day, I messaged our common friend on Yahoo! messenger looking for a copy of the then popular tv series, Prison Break. Our friend, knowing that this was an opportunity for Chilley to chat with me, pointed me to him and said he recently downloaded a copy. What started as ym chats eventually became dates and a lot of spending time to get to know each other.

Chilley is the most selfless and kind-hearted person I’ve ever met. That’s just one of the many reasons why I fell for him. Before saying “yes” to him, I prayed to God for a sign. 😀 A month later, while on a Bohol-Cebu outing with our friends, God showed me the sign I’ve been praying for. And I’ve been thanking him everyday since.

2. What’s the inspiration behind the wedding theme? How did you incorporate this in the whole wedding?

We both wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities. We wanted our guests to feel that once they attend our wedding, they would definitely say that “Yeah, this is indeed Chilley and Anna’s wedding!” That’s how we came up with a “fun laid back summer” theme. We chose to be wed in May because May is our favorite month. We were both born on the month of May plus we both love summer!

Summer themed reception set-up, thanks to the yellow flowers! And their unique cake 🙂

Chilley and I are never formal nor serious. When we’re together, you’d probably see us laughing at each other or being just plain silly. That’s why we both agreed to have a laid back theme. We wanted to reminisce our childhood summer memories which is why we thought of giving our guests loot bags with childhood toys as souvenir. To add more fun to our wedding, we had booth games set-up for the kids and kids-at-heart during cocktails. And what’s summer without ice cream? We had  an ice cream cart during our cocktails which was a big hit!

Kids and kids at heart enjoyed these fun games!

Lootbags, kiddie souvenirs completed the peg of the couple for a laid-back summer theme.

3. Was it your dream wedding? If so, would you say you spent a lot to make it happen? If not, how would you describe it?

It was definitely a wedding more than we dreamed of. It was such a memorable experience to have all our loved ones gathered in one place to celebrate our love for each other. Having been able to save and spend for our own wedding is something we’re both proud of. I couldn’t say we spent too much but could probably say we spent within our means.

4. What do you think made your wedding truly heartfelt?

Having our family and friends celebrate with us made our wedding heartfelt.

 5. Tips on future brides how to plan their wedding.

Here are my tips to future brides:

– Don’t cram :). Plan and book suppliers as early as you can. It’s best to book early to ensure you get your fave suppliers and avoid their annual price increase!

– Start your planning with a budget. It’s easier to plan having a budget in mind so that you can narrow down your supplier search to those within your budget.

– Know your priorities. If in case you go over your budget on your photo and video, you might want to consider saving on flowers and styling, It is truly up to you to decide on your priorities.

– Enjoy wedding planning and of course your wedding day!

A really happy and beautiful couple.
